PRP Hair Rejuvenation
PRP Hair Rejuvenation
Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a painless hair restoration treatment that uses a patient’s own blood to stimulate hair growth. PRP is a therapy in which the scalp is injected with Platelet Rich Plasma to encourage and activate hair follicles, resulting in new hair growth. PRP hair therapy has been proven to improve hair count and thickness in many patients due to the presence of platelets containing growth and healing factors. This treatment, which is both fast and painless, can be done in the office with no downtime.
Your procedure starts with a blood draw, which we then use to make PRFM or Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix, a more advanced way of separating the plasma from your blood so that the platelets are more concentrated, effective, and longer-lasting when applied back to the desired area. Unlike PRP, PRFM works for days rather than just a few hours. The PRFM is then strategically injected and Microneedled into the scalp. The growth factors in PRFM help stimulate the activity of the hair follicles and promote new hair growth and restoration.
PRP Hair Rejuvenation increases blood supply to hair follicles to help improve hair thickness and decrease hair loss. PRP therapy is much more cost-effective than surgery.
FAQs
What is PRP Hair Rejuvenation?
PRP hair rejuvenation therapy for hair loss is a simple three-step medical procedure. A patient’s blood is drawn, processed, and injected into the scalp using a tiny needle.
Is Hair PRP Rejuvenation painful?
There is a moderate level of pain involved in this procedure. We use lidocaine to numb the injection areas and areas that will be treated. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different; we try our best to make sure numbing is adequate to keep you as comfortable as possible during the procedure.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
It’s usually advised to have three to five treatments at one-month intervals, with maintenance sessions performed every six to nine months.
Is there downtime for this procedure?
There is very minimal downtime. Avoid using any hair product or washing for the first 48 hours after the procedure. Avoid any intense workout for the next 24 hrs after the treatment. Most patients notice redness on the scalp which will subside after 3-24 hrs. You may also experience tightness of the skin on the treated area. Avoid itching or touching the treated area for the next 3-7 days.
How long until I notice results from the treatment?
Optimal results are seen after 4-6 treatments, but you will see improvements about 3-4 weeks after each treatment. The first things you will notice are a decrease in hair shedding, re-growth, and an increase in hair length.
Are there contraindications for this treatment?
